Making the transition from a crib to a toddler bed is a big step in a child's life. Since even the most positive changes can cause anxiety, we thought we'd share some great tips from an article posted on The Baby Furniture Warehouse Stores blog earlier this month. 

1. Include your child when choosing the new "big kid" bed and bedding. It helps give them a sense of ownership. 
2. Consider moving the crib out of the room to make the transition smoother.
3. Stick with the routine that your child will associate with bedtime - at least the first night.
4. Feel free to sit in the new bed to snuggle with your child, read a book and help him/her get comfortable, but don't stay too long. It's important that your child learns to fall asleep alone.
5. Make the room ready for a more independent child. Double check furniture for stability and make sure the night light provides enough light to prevent late night accidents.
